Headshots

It is my goal to capture artists exactly as they are in the moment. I want to see you in your truest, most confident form. As an actor myself, I know from experience how stressful headshots can be—I speak your language! Using a combination of vibrant backdrops, natural light, and crisp makeup design, we craft headshots that reflect who you are. I can’t wait to see you in the studio!

★ What to Expect ★

  • 3 hours per session

  • 3 "looks" or "outfits"

  • 5 retouched final images

  • $525 total: $350 for Photographer, $175 for MUA

My Process

At the top of your session, we will check in about your goals, your hopes, your dreams, your types, your outfits, your anxieties—everything that makes you the unique artist that you are!

First things first…

We’ll get you in the makeup chair and let the MUA do their magic. See this as opportunity to reset your nervous system, and a chance for us to pamper you for a little while!

And, then what?

After you’re feeling hydrated, all dolled up, and ready to roll, we’ll get shooting! Transparency is key as I walk you through my directing style, and get you as comfortable and confident as possible to maximize our results together.

But wait, there’s more!

The hard work is over! We’ll chat about next steps, my timeline for delivery, and the things I need to get you your final edited shots, and then we’ll send you on your merry way!

Oh, and another thing…

You will retain access to the album of final images and all retouched photos in perpetuity (well, at least until The Cloud™ crashes)! I’m happy to edit extra photos for a small fee, just hit me up!

We did it!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I schedule a session?
To book a session, visit my Contact page and fill out the form or email me to request a quote!

  • Where is your studio?
I currently shoot out of a shared space with Green Shirt Studio in the North Center neighborhood of Chicago, at 4001 N Ravenswood Ave.

  • Do I need makeup?
Honestly? Yes! Your headshot is an investment, and the final product should reflect that! Syd Genco, my makeup extraordinaire, does an incredible job of bringing out your best qualities and setting your face up for maximum balance when I have you stand in that beautiful, beautiful sunlight. As we move through the session and your makeup starts deteriorating, Syd is right there to touch you up and keep you fresh. The best part? We get to pamper you for an hour and give your nervous system some time to recharge and settle before for the session.

Moving forward, I will assume you are ready to hire a makeup artist at the time of booking, unless otherwise noted.

  • Can I wear white?
You can wear (almost) anything. Truly! I love when clients bring in a ton of options. We will craft your looks together, based on what you love to wear and what you feel the most confident in showcasing. Sometimes, that’s just a white tee! And sometimes, it’s your grandfather’s plaid shirt that has a hole in the armpit.

  • How do I pay you?
I accept payment through Zelle, Paypal, cash, or check. Whatever is easiest for you! I prefer settling on payment on the day of our session.

Invoices through my bookkeeping system are sent the day of our shoot.

  • I am currently committed to offering pay-what-you-can services to Black artists and Black business owners. Because of this, I try to remain firm on my standard rates so that I can leave room for this in my budget. If you have any questions or are interested in getting involved, let me know!

  • What if I need to reschedule?
Things happen, and we totally understand if you need to book into a new appointment. Please email me to let me know. I do require a $100 deposit (towards your total balance) due on the date of the originally scheduled session.

If you need to reschedule within 7 days of your appointment, that $100 reschedule deposit will not go towards your final balance.

Collin makes the headshot process so effortless. I came into the room saying, "I'm looking for full gender euphoria," and Collin said, "I got your back." They absolutely delivered. During the actual session, they make sure that you feel physically as comfortable as possible using breath, laughter, and communication. They take time to review raw images with you in the moment and pinpoint little notes or tweaks to make the next set of shots even better. In the short time we shot together, I had a huge breadth of images that really captured a rich range, from theatrical to whimsical to commercial. Highly recommend Collin, especially if you want a highly supportive space.

– Caito Aase, Actor

When I think of my own image, "authenticity" isn't a word that leaps to mind. I'm stiff and miserable once a camera's in my face, then I ruthlessly dissect the results. My photo shoot with Collin was so, so different: thoughtful, expressive, and deeply empathetic. Collin easily picked up on my mood and somatic experience (such as reminding me, often, to actually breathe, or asking me to talk about my interests to calm me down). They had a sensitive eye for poses and details, helping me to look not only "good," but the most like myself. I now have some gorgeous portraits which I've used for a variety of purposes—my work, dating apps, my mom even got one framed. Just as important, though, I always remember my session with Collin as a model of generosity: how they didn't make me feel scrutinized, just seen.

– Anonymous Client

Working with Collin is a dream! They're so inviting and collaborative, making even the most camera-shy feel comfortable and confident. They create a welcoming environment and are a team player from beginning to end. They ask great questions to ensure the shoot is set up for success, and are receptive to feedback throughout, continually evolving to fit the need of the client. Time and time again, they've captured the essence of each show, and made our artists feel like rockstars.

– Derek Van Barham, Producing Artistic Director, Kokandy Productions

Collin made every moment enjoyable and easy of a usually very stressful process for actors. From the booking to the final payment, they provided a warm and comfortable environment that allowed me to get the best headshot possible and I am so happy with my results. Collin listens and tailors the day to what you need and bonus—their amazing makeup designer Syd is just as lovely and talented as they are and also adds warmth and comfort to the room.

– Elizabeth Rentfro, Actor/Musician

Collin has done my headshots twice now, and both times the resulting shots have given me enormous gender euphoria while also looking snappy and professional. Their gentle energy in the room while shooting immediately sets me at ease, and I can cycle through outfits with confidence that we’ll get a winning picture from each one. Will return for session three, when the time comes!
